During a wander around Westonbirt Arboretum recently I was delighted to come across this information board. As a designer it’s the fresh air rather than the actual leaves/waves/mountains around me that assist my creative thinking so this close up image of ‘knitting’ stopped me in my tracks. It put me in mind of the sort of tights worn in the 1970’s. Actually it’s something called ‘xylem’ which my dictionary defines as ‘woody tissue’. It’s also the sort of word that can get you out of a tight spot if you are a Scrabble player.
