In praise of the pinafore

This is me wearing my jeans…well my equivalent to jeans. Let me explain…

We each of us have our ‘go to’ everyday garment for when we don’t need to think too much about what to wear that day. For many people this will be a pair of jeans and while I do that too I also have a selection of pinafores to choose from. My theory is they are actually less faff than jeans because jeans need washing and ironing* whereas a pinafore doesn’t actually touch your skin and so it doesn’t need such frequent laundering. In the same way you can dress your jeans up or down you can do the same with your pinafore. You can wear it with a long sleeve skinny sweater and thick knit tights as here; with a crisp shirt and sheer tights or with a t-shirt, leggings and trainers. One garment - three different looks - minimum laundry - easy!

This pinafore is made from the softest Lambswool and is a dream to work with and wear. Wool is naturally crease resistant and so any creasing acquired through sitting down will naturally drop out. The lining inside makes sure the garment skims over your body rather than clinging to it. The relaxed A-line silhouette gently hints waist shaping even after a substantial lunch! Pockets for your hands and hanky and a button closure at the back complete the understated styling.

* Your reaction may be “Iron my jeans?! Really?!” Ironing them after washing will set the weave of the fabric so they will keep their shape and you can wear them longer. I am aware there are people who’s reaction may be “Wash my jeans?! Really?!” …but I’d really prefer not to think about that!
